Jazzbo's Rollin' Gumbo

On Saturday we ventured out in the heat and grabbed lunch at Jazzbo's Rollin' Gumbo located at Once Upon A Vine’s parking lot at 4009 MacArthur Ave. They are open Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays 11am-7ish. The mobile food vehicle also sells food at the North of the James Market on Tuesdays at Bryan Park.

Even though we were hot, Jamie Dickerson was sweltering and still portrayed a pleasant and laid back personality. More power to him. My spouse ordered Pork BBQ with baked beans. Hubby thought the Q was a bit on the sweet side, but he has an extremely high Q bar.

I had Kielbasa with grilled peppers and onions and home fries.

My sausage was split down the middle and grilled to perfection. The peppers and onions had the crunch cooked out of them, but there was no sign of being burnt (so good!). The onions were especially sweet. I drooled over the home fries! And don't forget the sub roll - buttered and grilled. Loved the detailed attention to the bread.

Well worth braving the heat for some good food and hospitality.
