It's happening and everybody is doing it (even at 8 AM it's tough finding a parking space). The vendors (veggie or otherwise) present everything with pride. Today hubby and I bought:
Fresh garlic
Oakleaf lettuce
Fennel
Wax beans
Potatoes
Feta
Blanchard's iced coffee (way too hot for the hot stuff!)
Lavender cheesecake (and shamelessly devoured it for breakfast)
We drooled over everything else (especially the barbeque!). Here are a few vendor links:
The Cracked Egg Bakery
Lovers Retreat Farm
Blanchard's Coffee
Victory Farms
And the link to The Market Umbrella.
And a few pictures to tempt the few of you that have not experienced the market. See you next time.

What a great time! We went today; we followed the advice of others and got there by 8:30am (earliest I have been out on a Saturday in a VERY long time!) and nabbed a prime parking spot as 2 girls were already packing the car and heading home for the day. We spent some cash, but picked up some amazing goods. We tried to buy from as many people as we could, so we bought one veggie from one vendor, one bundle of herbs from another, etc. We got:
- double yolk large brown eggs and banana nut brad from the Countryside Bakery
- a tiny basil plant in a little pot for my deck :) (I too am a city girl and do not have a garden)
- a pint of enormous blackberries
- 2 lamb shanks from Simply Abundant Farm
- pumpkin ravioli, porcini ravioli, walnut sauce, and sugo rustico sauce from Cavana Pasta
- a huge bunch of flat leaf Italian parsley
- a bunch of the biggest and prettiest scallions I have ever seen
- enormous bunch of dill to use tonight with my ravioli
I forgot to continue my comment. :)
We really had a great time. It's such a nice way to spend a Saturday morning. It's also fun bc now I know what I am making for dinner tonight (the ravioli - half of each) and tomorrow for early Sunday dinner (the lamb shank). And it's nice to be home so early - it's almost wine time! :)
