A cool October 1 for the South of the James Market. Pumpkins are arriving as well as Japanese turnips. Casselmonte Farms also had fresh ginger.

Here are some photos:

Pork Taco

If you have pictures of any of the local markets, post them here.

Just found you blog while searching for restaurant idea in Richmond. I feel very lucky. This is just what I need. Am from DC and traveling to your beautiful city next month for a girls weekend (staying at the Jefferson). I will carefully read your posts but was wondering if you have any dining suggestions for us. We LOVE good, neighborhood places with lots of atmosphere. All price ranges are fine. Thanks!

Hi Anonymous - Girls weekend should be fun. Two very different places - Balliceaux (in the Fan and has music late night) - wonderful cocktails and eclectic setting. Lehja's (Short Pump) has great Indian cuisine and wonderful wine list. The bar at the Jefferson is also very good. For brunch, check out Lulu's in Shockoe Bottom or squeeze into Kuba Luba (in the Fan) - depending on the size of your party. Have a blast!!

I saw the ginger last week too. I had never seen it with the stalk on. It was stunning.

Is that last picture a duck taco from boka?

Hi Jay - The last photo is the pork taco from El Cielito Lindo. I did have a duck egg and proscuitto taco from Boka the following week. Both are great!
