Dixie Donuts
Dixie Donuts are yummy!
They have a wide variety of cake-based goodies. I fell in love with the Aztec Chocolate, topped with candied pumpkin seeds. Hubby devoured the Chocolate Toffee Crunch.
Pick up some yumminess today!

Abundance abounds at the South of the James Market despite the heat. Lovely tomatoes, peppers, onions, garlic, fresh chicken, and mouth-watering doughnuts.

SOJ 7/23/2011
It was a hot one at the South of the James Market today. Most of Richmond decided to beat the heat the best they could and arrived at 8 AM. We were amongst that number. Not as many food carts today which was understandable. The limeade stand had a line and Soul Ice conducted a brisk business. We picked up red and orange tomatoes, the first purple hull peas of the season, potatoes, a whole chicken, peppers, and fresh pasta. We had freshly made sourdough doughnuts and iced coffee for breakfast. Yummy, yummy!
Here are a few photos, of course.

SOJ 7/2/2011
This week the buzz (or the aroma) was all about Mrs. Yoder's Kitchen and freshly made sourdough doughnuts. Those large sweet fried items smelled delicious and we could not resist taking a few home. We also loaded up on sweet white corn, elephant garlic, purple peppers, yellow potatoes, skirt steak and eye of round, fresh whole chicken, golden beets, leeks, and onions. Blanchard's iced coffee and Koralee tea rounded out the morning.
Here are some photos. A couple of weeks ago bhw commented on not seeing any doggie pics. I have included several from yesterday. Enjoy!

Daylight Donuts
Richmond BizSense posted a piece on Daylight Donuts a little over a week ago. This is a new doughnut franchise that just opened on Broad between Gaskins and Cox. Part of their mission is to train and employ persons with disabilities.
Last week I picked up some goodies on the way to work. They were delightful.
I was particularly partial to the cinnamon roll.

Best Doughnut in Town
I finally had me some Country Style Doughnuts today thanks to a co-worker. OMG! Yeasty, sweet, fried. Mmmm Mmmm. The plain ones stole my heart
I'm not sure why I did not try them earlier, but they are the best in town.

Krispy Kreme and Herbs Galore
Before embarking to Maymont for Herbs Galore we breakfasted (or sugared up) at the sign of the double K. I love this place! Watching the doughy blobs converyer belt their way through proofing, rising, frying, and glazing continues to fascinate my wee brain. And then the hot fried goodness encased in way too sweet icing is killer (sadly, in more ways than one). My hubby also likes the apple-cinamon filled confections. Somehow given a choice between a hot or cold doughnut, I will choose the hot one every time. Yummy, yummy!
And then we picked up a few herbs at Maymont including a flight of thyme - orange blosson, lime, and lemon -
barbeque rosemary -
purple ruffled basil -
Valentino basil -
